When a powerful earthquake rocked Nepal, people lost their homes and their way of making a living. This project will provide homes and hope for families in Gorkha and Nuwakot – hard-hit areas close to the epicenter of the April 25 quake.
People in this area are living in uncertainty. They are still living in tents. They lack resources to rebuild, and they are exposed and vulnerable as winter approaches. Families must have protection from wind, rain, snow, and freezing cold. With strong houses, families can begin to move forward with their lives.
Houses provide more than shelter – they provide stability and hope!
The work will be completed through a partnership with Hope for Nepal, which provided temporary shelter, tarps, and food for 353 people in the Shinddhupalchock, Dolakha, Nuwakot, and Gorkha districts immediately after the April 25 quake. That project saved families from starvation and provided shelter during the rainy season. Now, Hope for Nepal will return to build more permanent homes in these same communities.
Our goal is to build 20 houses.
